Frequently Asked Questions
What is a vehicle evaluation?
A vehicle evaluation consists of a two-step process, firstly – it is always a good idea to obtain your Trade and Retail Values, the second part of a vehicle evaluation is a physical evaluation which will determine the Market Value of your vehicle.
What is the difference between a Trade Value and Retail Value?
The Trade Value of a vehicle is based on the year model and the exact derivative (make) of a vehicle. This is the average price you can expect to receive when SELLING your vehicle, however – the trade and retail values do not take into account the mileage, condition, history or market demand.
The Retail Value of a vehicle is based on the year model and the exact derivative (make) of a vehicle. This is the average price you can expect to pay when BUYING a vehicle, however – the trade and retail values do not take into account the mileage, condition, history or market demand.
I have been onto your website, why am I not able to get a value for my vehicle?
Values are only available on vehicles that have a high volume of sales within a 12-month period.
For example – Kia released the Rio in 2019 and sold 3000 units as brand-new cars to consumers. It is highly likely that trade and retail values for this vehicle will be accessible in the year 2020 as there is a high probability that a large number of those vehicles were returned to the dealer market as used vehicles.
If a vehicle such as a Lamborghini Aventador only sells 3 units within a 12-month period, the chances of those vehicles returning to the used market are very slim and therefore, the trade and retail values will not be available on the database.
Does the reason for my evaluation change the value of my car?
No, it does not – you will still receive the trade and retail values of your vehicle via email and SMS immediately – the difference between the Trade and Retail Value has been explained above.
Why does Valueyourcar.co.za have to evaluate my vehicle physically to give me an offer?
The basis of our website is to provide accurate trade and retail values to the general public at no cost – because your trade and retail values do not take into account the mileage, condition, history or market demand, it is imperative that we evaluate the vehicle physically in order to provide a fair and accurate offer to ensure that you get the best price for your vehicle.
